Catfish

I went looking for bluegill on Sunday and so only took my 4lb line ultra lite with crickets and little size 8 hooks. I was in a lovely spot on the shore in the back lake at River Park North. With the first cast I caught the upper 4.5 lb. 24 incher and eventually got it in and immediately caught the 20 inch 2.5 lb. one. A whole days fishing done in 20 minutes.

When I was steady keeping a dream journal and working out the symbolic language of my dreams, fishing (in the waters of the subconcious) came to mean searching for insight. Catching fish was associated with breakthrough insights, catching dead fish (it's a dream okay) with wrong conclusions and not catching anything with patient continuing. For that reason I always take note of what I'm pondering when unexpected bounty comes like the catfish.

I was grumpy driving to the lake as I had hoped Maddy and Melissa were coming but they weren't in the mood and I was stuggling to put into practice one of the pearls of wisdom I cling to...'The answer almost always is let it go'. Not the bury it, hide it till later kind of let it go, but the every thing is fine right this second just like it is...really kind of let it go. I had and was moved by the beauty of the morning and the lake and the whole circle of life cricket fish me thing and boom. Seven pounds of catfish and something to share.
